PLtGen Carlos retires as PNP chief


Police Lieutenant General Dionardo Bernardo Carlos, MM 2010, retired as Philippine National Police (PNP) chief on May 8, 2022 at 56, which qualified him for the mandatory retirement age. He was appointed chief of the PNP on November 13, 2021 by President Rodrigo Duterte.

PLtGen Carlos is an alumnus of the Philippine Military Academy “Maringal” Class 1988. He completed his Master in Management in 2010 from the Asian Institute of Management.

He was awarded Outstanding Policeman of 2009 by the Metrobank Foundation Inc. and Honorable and Outstanding Policeman in the Service in 2013 by JCI-HOPE Manila.

He has served a well-rounded career in all his designations to key positions in the PNP as Director for Integrated Police Operations (DIPO) in Visayas, The Director for Police Community Relations, Director for Information and Communication Technology Management, Director of the Highway Patrol Group, Director of the Aviation Security Group, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 8 in Eastern Visayas; and Provincial Director of Police Provincial Offices in Negros Oriental and Quezon province.

PLtGen Carlos also served as Chief of the PNP Public Information Office and PNP Spokesperson at the National Headquarters and Chief Regional PIO of NCRPO and also performed staff functions in the Center for Police Strategy Management and Office of the Chief PNP.
