Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr., MBM 1978 and 2003 Triple A awardee, was appointed as publisher of the Manila Bulletin on May 1, 2021.
Prior to joining the Manila Bulletin as executive vice president, Coloma served in the cabinet of former President Benigno Aquino III as communication secretary and presidential spokesperson. He was transportation undersecretary in former President Joseph Estrada’s administration and was head of the presidential management staff, deputy executive secretary, and undersecretary for transportation and agrarian reform under former President Corazon Aquino.
Coloma took up Political Science at the University of the Philippines and obtained a Master in Business Management degree with distinction from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the School of Organization Development at the Southeast Asia Interdisciplinary Development Institute.
At AIM, he was dean of the Executive Education and Lifelong Learning Center (2000-2004); Associate Dean of MBA Program (1994-1996); Program Director of Master in Development Management Program (1989-1990). He served as AIM Alumni Association Philippines Chairman from 1986 to 1988.
