AAAIM Chair Macatangay is one of the pioneer awardees of SGV-EY & MAP NextGen CEO Leadership Program

The Alumni Association of the Asian Institute of Management, Inc. (AAAIM) Chairman Michael Sherwin Macatangay, EMBA 2006 is 1 of the 15 pioneer graduates and awardees of the prestigious SyCip Gorres Velayo-Ernst & Young and the Management Association of the Philippines (SGV/EY-MAP) 1 Year "NextGen CEO Transformative Leadership Program"!

Knowledge partners Sycip Gorres Velayo-Ernst & Young and the Management Association of the Philippines jointly conducted the 1st “Next Gen CEO: A Transformative Leadership Program.”

Consistent with SGV’s Purpose to Nurture leaders and Enable Businesses for a Better Philippines, the 12-month interactive leadership program is geared toward helping high-performing young CEOs reframe the future of their companies.

Reframing the future requires leaders to view the future through a new lens of value creation. This perspective is synthesized in EY’s Transformation Realized system comprising Humans@Center, Technology@Speed, and Innovation@Scale.

Using the model, young CEOs are encouraged to develop key capabilities and skills that will enable them to become transformative leaders in their organizations and sectors.

Only 15 young CEOs are awarded from among many nominees and applicants selected by an esteemed committee composed of top-notch CEOs and senior executives of SGV-EY and MAP.

The 12-month executive program is anchored on four main themes:

1. Leading with Purpose

Transformative leadership is not simply a set of behaviors. It is about the way you realize your purpose, connecting head and heart, fostering deep connectivity through empathy and confidence with your teams and with each other. It is how you innovate in the face of unprecedented challenges.

Awardees will attend virtual classes that will allow them to look at the attributes of purposeful and successful leaders, and how they might be able to lead their organizations with purpose beginning with themselves.

2. Humans@Center

CEOs of the future keep humans – employees, customers, society – at the center of any transformation agenda.

Under this theme, awardees will engage with their fellow CEOs, sector leaders, and market makers to understand the power of human enterprise, focusing on the following:

► Customers@Center and how to respond to changing consumer behaviors.

► Employees@Center and reimagine the digital workforce experience.

► Society@Center and the role of the enterprise to become a force of good.

3. Technology@Speed

The promise of new technologies goes beyond efficiencies. It is about the ability to augment human intelligence by helping make better choices. It is also about embedding cybersecurity and privacy protection to maintain trusted relationships.

Awardees will attend EY Wavespace© sessions to explore through technology the art of the possible. They will work on case studies that show how value can be created and destroyed by technology. They will also have the opportunity to interact with key technology players in the market to further understand how technology might create a competitive advantage for their business.

4. Innovation@Scale

Awardees will work at an Innovation Challenge within their organization, industry, market, or even society. They will leverage the knowledge, insights, and inputs from SGV and EY subject matter experts. The CEOs will bring together the key themes of the program to create an innovative idea that is aligned with purpose, centered on human experience, powered by technology – all designed to innovate and create long-term value.

High-Level Timeline

The 12-month program comprises various activities conducted via virtual plenary and classroom sessions and physical sessions, as necessary.

The Next Gen CEO: A Transformative Leadership Program is a most timely and relevant initiative for the next generation of CEOs. This is a high-level program that SGV-EY and MAP designed specifically for the Next Generation of top CEOs and Transformed Leaders in our society.
