Knowing that many AIM Alumni friends are in the middle of the anti-COVID epidemic, I would like to share with you experience how Vietnam fight against COVID. I hope your country will soon overcome this pandemic. You, your family, and the people in your country are safe, healthy and happy.
As you know, the outbreak of coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei province, China in December 2019. Later, the disease spread to many provinces and cities of China. To date, spread to 215 countries/territories around the globe, including Vietnam.
As a neighboring country with China, the Government and the people of Vietnam have determined that the risk of infecting Vietnam is very high due to the high trade density of the two countries. At that time, people were very scared. As of January 23, 2020, Vietnam had the first case of COVID disease. Vietnam isolates from April 1, 2020, to April 23, 2020. The government identified this group of infectious disease, at risk of the global pandemic level.
Therefore, immediately on 30 January 2020, the Prime Minister decided to establish a National Steering Committee for the prevention of acute respiratory infections. The members of the Committee include representatives of many ministries, all agencies and localities must fight the epidemic. Each of these member agencies set up their own epidemic prevention departments. Each agency, depending on its functions, duties and target groups, immediate ministries, sectors, and localities from the commune to district, provincial and central levels develop action plans to protect people and formulate methods of rescue in case of an epidemic occurring in any locality so that all people can lead a safe life and avoid infection in all localities in the country.
So far in more than 60 days, Vietnam has no cases of COVID cases appear in the community. As of now, Vietnam has 355 people infected with COVID in 31/64 city/province, 340 people were cured and 20 people who are treating the majority are Vietnamese from abroad.
On March 12, the government ordered the zoning and isolation of Bach Ma Hospital to avoid spreading the infection to the community. The day before, I took my husband to see me at this clinic. So my husband and I are also subject to a 14-day isolation at home. During those 14 days, my husband and I were extremely worried because we were over 60 years old and my husband had a background disease so the risk of transmission was high.
Worrying about COVID Pandemic is obvious. But if the prevention of this virus is in accordance with the doctor's advice, it will be safe for you.
