The Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association of AIM, Inc. (AAAIM) gathered on July 11, 2026, at the AIM Conference Center for its 2026 Strategic Planning Workshop, a significant milestone in defining the association's strategic direction and long-term priorities.

The workshop opened with remarks from AAAIM Chair Felix Tiukinhoy Jr., who encouraged the Board to look beyond programs and events and focus on the lasting impact AAAIM aspires to create for future generations of AIM alumni. He challenged the trustees to reflect on the association's purpose and the legacy it seeks to build through meaningful service, engagement, and leadership.
The morning session featured interactive team-building activities facilitated by Trustee Monette Iturralde-Hamlin. Board members participated in a personality assessment that highlighted the team's collective leadership strengths and encouraged greater self-awareness and collaboration. This was followed by a storytelling exercise in which groups interpreted the same set of images from different perspectives, demonstrating how diverse ideas and experiences can enrich decision-making and strengthen teamwork.
In the afternoon, the board focused on shaping AAAIM's strategic priorities for the coming years. Discussions centered on enhancing financial sustainability, expanding alumni engagement, strengthening organizational capabilities, and ensuring the association's long-term growth and relevance. Vice Chair Debbie Namalata presented the Association's Strategic Map and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), providing a framework for measuring progress and aligning initiatives with AAAIM's mission and vision.

The workshop concluded with a commitment from the Board of Trustees to work together in building a stronger, more sustainable, and more impactful alumni association that will continue to create meaningful opportunities and lasting value for the AIM alumni community.
